Comcast and Hulu

The week began with a story about GE’s possible spin-off of NBC, and the subsequent possible buy of the network by ComCast.  While this story itself has enough people in a tizzy, the LA Times wonders what the ramifications of such a deal would be for Hulu.  Given, as the paper says, Comcast’s ”disdain” for giving away anything for free (think for a second about the company’s upcoming TV Everywhere, which would be paid for through cable subscription), what would the future hold for Hulu?  Comcast, should the deal go through will end up with 30% of the popular online brand.  The investor community as well as the cable community is already suspicious of what they see as “a threat to the underpinnings of the television business”.
