It’s Not Dead, It’s Just Nesting

Nobody would dispute that it’s been a pretty dreadful year for magazines on the whole.  But there is a niche that continues to grow, despite the debacle that the rest of the industry faces: home titles. Well, not Metropolitan Home, which shut down this week,; Dwell and House Beautiful both saw ad revenue sink like a stone. But there has been an almost explosive growth in this area.  The segment has grown 167% in the past five years, Folio reports.  As we’re spending more time at home, since we can’t afford to out any more, we’re apparently feathering our nests. We’re not making them gorgeous, we’re just making them comfy.
