Subscribing to TV Shows on ITunes

A few weeks ago, WSJ reported that Apple is trying to persuade networks to sell subscriptions to TV shows on the web, through iTunes. So far, CBS and Disney are reported to be expressing some interest, but other broadcasting companies are not too thrilled with the idea.  The hope is that it will be launched in the spring or so, along about the time that the super hyped tablet makes its appearance.  Apple is updating iTunes , says WSJ and the proposed subscription service would be an addition to the way it currently sells individual shows.  So far, it looks like Apple would pay a premium to the networks per subscriber, and then bundle shows, charge consumers $30 a month, and offer them what it calls the “best of television”.  But Apple isn’t the only one who’s looking at a subscription opportunity for television.  Netflix and Hulu are also investigating this possibility.
